Adelaide

A stifling 37 degree day welcomed Dave and I into Adelaide city. From Mt Barker it was only 20km's of small hills, followed by an exhilarating 10km descent filled with stunning views of the city. Blood pumping fast we flew into civilisation, passing poor suckers riding back up-hill looking hot, tired and envious. But we had earned this small pleasure.
We checked into a small back-packers in order to explore the city free of our bikes and luggage. We didn't think very highly of the city.
Later that arvo we bought some beers and took them back to our room where we met our roomies. They were two french girls of around our age. We all spent some time getting to know each other, but somewhere between the beers, our giggling fits and their boring, arrogant nature, they hated us.
Before things became too sour we dashed off to enjoy a quietish night out in the city dancing, drinking and having a good time.
Adelaide city had been average, and this was the end of the road for Dave, who caught the train home the next day.  He had been easy to get along with and had great motivation to start peddling each morning.
Riding solo was going to take some getting used to.
